HOW 100 GUYS BRANTFORD WORKS
Meetings occur four times a year and are conducted in one hour or less at the Brantford Golf and Country Club. Each member commits to donating $100 per event, a total of $400 per year. Next meeting will be held on Thursday June 1st @ 7:00PM (Doors open @ 6:30PM)
Each member of 100 guys has the option to present on behalf of a local charity. At the beginning of the meeting, three guys will be chosen to present. Each member votes (by ballot) for one of the three charities.
The charity with the most votes will be the recipient of the donation. Each member writes a cheque for $100 directly to the recipient charity for a total group donation of $10,000 or more. #boom
If you'd like to become a member, please fill in our JOIN US form and join us at our next meeting.
Can I bring a friend?
Yes of course! We encourage you to spread the word of 100 Guys to anyone you think would like to make a difference to their local community. Bring them to the next meeting and we will sign them up!
How long do the events last?
Events will take no more than one hour. Meetings will start at 7:00pm and should be done by 8:00pm. There is time for drinks before, during and after the formal part of each meeting. Registration will begin at 6:30pm.
How long is my commitment?
As a member you commit for one year. During that year members will attend four meetings and donate $100 at each meeting, totalling $400.
What if I can't attend a meeting?
If a member cannot attend a quarterly event, he should place his blank $100 cheque in an envelope marked “100 Guys Who Care” and give it to a fellow member who will be going to the meeting.
How do I nominate a charity?
When members arrive at the meeting, they can submit a charity for nomination, or through the nomination page here (this is not mandatory though). Three charities will be selected at random at the beginning of the meeting.
How are the charities chosen?
A. Nominated charities go into a hat at the meeting and three charities are drawn at random. The members who nominated each charity give short five-minute presentations at the meeting. All members then vote to select the recipient charity.
Which are eligible for consideration?
Any local, registered charity that can offer a tax refund to each member is eligible. Click here to verify the charitable status of an organization (according to CRA).
Can a charity nominate itself?
No, charities may only be nominated by a member. Our members are not just interested in nominating and donating – they want to learn about local causes. They may want to volunteer, sponsor or serve on a board or committee. They may even become a regular donor or benefactor.
Is it tax deductible?
Yes, as only registered not-for-profit and charitable organizations will be sponsored by the group. Cheques are written directly to the charitable organization and NOT to 100 Guys Brantford. Tax receipts will be issued directly by the charitable organization.
